In this Louisiana Parole Board session, multiple revocation cases are heard — ranging from curfew violations and drug charges to firearm possession and domestic violence. Chairman Danny Barra, along with board members Mr. Tillis and Ms. LeDuc, issue some of the strongest warnings and clearest rulings seen this term.
1️⃣ Jackie Wafer — Multiple Violations (Parole REVOKED)
Violations include:
Curfew violations by 4 to 8 hours each night
Arrest for resisting an officer, alcohol in vehicle, Schedule II paraphernalia
Five counts of violating a protective order while incarcerated
Prior reprimands and jail sanctions
Board found a pattern of non-compliance:
“You were anywhere from four hours to over eight hours late getting home every night.”
“You have problems with your electronic monitor — several notations.”
Parole revoked unanimously.
2️⃣ Robert Augustine — Firearm Under Passenger Seat (Parole REVOKED)
He gave officers a false name, admitted fear of being on parole, and was found:
Riding in a car where the driver was smoking marijuana
Sitting directly over a Glock 19 with extended mag (27 rounds)
With multiple juveniles also in the vehicle
Board response:
“It didn’t matter if it wasn’t your car — YOU got in it.”
“Gun was located underneath your seat… within your reach and possession.”
Parole revoked 3-0.
3️⃣ Cleon Branch — Domestic Battery While Intoxicated (Parole REINSTATED)
Despite physical injuries documented on the victim, Branch insists the altercation was verbal.
He later admits:
“Yes sir… I was intoxicated.”
Board concludes alcohol played a major role and orders:
✔ Substance-abuse treatment
✔ Domestic-violence program (Duluth)
✔ NO CONTACT with victim until full-term date
✔ Parole reinstated upon program completion
A rare second chance.
4️⃣ DeJohn Travis — Threats with a Knife (Parole REVOKED)
Travis threatened individuals telling them:
“I have a knife and a gun and I’m going to take them out.”
(Paraphrased directly from charge; knife confirmed)
A knife was located in his bag. Although no gun was found, the threat alone violated parole.
Board response: revoked, with recommendation for mental-health + substance-abuse programming.
