hey guys! Christmas is less than a week away so i got you guys a nice snowy wintery cover to get in the mood for holidays. this song was a treat to cover, very challenging but fulfilling!

so to address the elephant in the room, my visuals in this video really closely copy TasteyLunch's "Sinnoh Snow Route" but i swear I didn't do it on purpose!! lol. I had the idea of a "pokemon band" playing alongside the music for this cover when i first made it, and wanted to use the Blastoise Piano gif. When I was about halfway through making all the pokemon art, one of my friends showed me TasteyLunch's video and I realized that I had more or less copied their video :( so if you enjoy my video, go drop a like on their's!

anyways with that said, I really enjoyed covering this song! making a winter/snow themed song sound more "Christmas-y" isn't exactly a challenge, but reformatting the song to have a solo gave me a bit of trouble. I had first started this cover in August of 2022, and scrapped it cuz i didn't know how to write the solo, till August of 2023 when I came back to it :) I figured taking a traditional approach would work best, and just improv a keyboard solo! I also structured the song after insaneintherain's route 216 cuz frankly, i can't hear this song without the slow middle section.

i used a lot of hi-fi samples in this cover which i think helped give a very modern sound. all of the keyboards are samples from other game's soundfonts, or the vrc7 vibraphone. I also chose the night version of this song so i could make a more "relaxed" or "chill" version, my favorite way to arrange nowadays. And I made the song more Christmas-y with the usual tactics, adding bells, chimes, and sleigh bells lol

and for the visuals, oh joy those were a treat to work on!! Tell me which performer was your fav cuz i'm curious, but i'm personally impartial to Glaceon cuz of how cute they are :3c I drew each pokemon in Aseprite and animated them in Paint Tool Sai, and made each pokemon play an instrument that i feel like would match their personality or would be tailored to them. except Regigigas, he was invited cuz he wanted to play triangle with his friends.

anyways, that's about it! next pokemon cover will be hearthome city, night version of course ;)
