We set out early, chasing that perfect Siargao sunrise. The plan? A chill surf mission. The reality? A full lap around the island filled with wrong turns, chaotic moments, and a few unforgettable gems along the way.

First stop: a stunning beach locals call Stairway to Heaven. White sand, turquoise water — absolutely unreal. Then we dropped into the famous Magpupungko Rock Pools. Crowded? Yep. Hot? Definitely. But still worth it, just to see what the fuss was about. And honestly — it looked like the postcard version of the Philippines we all dream about.

But the real magic? That happened when we least expected it. A wrong turn took us off the tourist trail and straight to Tigasao Eco-Tourism Pools — a quiet, jungle-fringed spot with not a tourist in sight. No entry fee. No crowds. Just crystal-clear water and that rare feeling of discovering something special.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a GenXplorers adventure without a few curveballs. We almost lost the keys (don’t ask), copped a flat tyre on the scooter, and had one of those sweaty “should we just give up?” moments. But then, as Siargao always seems to do — it threw us a surprise: a sunset bridge scene straight out of a movie.
