🎮 Welcome back, creators!
We’re continuing our Unreal Engine 5 Third Person Game Series — Part 6, and in this video, I’ll show you how to add a free melee attack animation and idle animation to your character using Blend Poses inside the Animation Blueprint. This is a critical step if you want smooth upper-body combat animations while maintaining natural movement in the lower body.

🔥 What we’re covering in this tutorial:
✔️ How to import free melee animations from the Unreal FAB store
➡️ Here’s the exact animation I’m using: https://www.fab.com/listings/b81b2df8...
✔️ How to replace skeletons and retarget animations to the UE5 Manny character
✔️ How to add attack animations using Blend Poses inside your Animation Blueprint
✔️ How to blend idle, attack, run, jump, and land animations smoothly
✔️ How to prevent animation clipping when holding a melee weapon
✔️ How to adjust the weapon socket — I had to change mine to hand_r because the imported animation wasn’t lining up with the default socket in the Third Person Character Blueprint

🛠️ Why this is important:
Using Blend Poses helps you layer different animations for more realistic combat behavior
Retargeting allows you to bring in free animation packs from the FAB store and apply them to your game characters
Adjusting sockets and animation blueprints gives you full control over how your character handles combat in Unreal Engine 5
💡 Who this video is for:
