E Aural Trainer - How to recognize the difference between 2 and 3 time for Grades 1 & 2 Aural .
In this video you will learn how to distinguish between 2 time and 3 time and how to clap in time as required for Grade 1 Aural.
All music has a natural pulse or beat with an accent on the first beat of a bar, and so, as you listen to a piece of music you should try to say 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, or 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 in time with the music, WITH AN EMPHASIS EACH TIME YOU SAY “ONE” if you guessed correctly whether it is in 2 time or three time, when you stress the “one” whilst counting, it should naturally coincide with the natural stressed note of the music. Another trick to help you distinguish between 2 and 3 time is that 2 time sounds like a March, and 3 time sounds like a Dance.
