Winterizing my honey bee hive is essential for helping the bees survive the long, cold winter months in Wisconsin. Before wrapping the hive in tar paper (roofing felt), I poured some granulated sugar on top of newspaper for the bees to feed on when the weather will be warm enough for them to move about inside the hive.
