It's a common question, and a one to which there are a variety of different answers floating around on the internet. Unfortunately, many of these answers are only partially correct, or entirely false. In this video I discuss some of the more common misconceptions, and explain the true origin of the iconic "Red coat" of the English and later British soldier of the 17th Century onward.
