Probably my best capture of a Lightning.
I had gone to Binbrook for the afternoon and been there about an hour and nothing was flying. It was also quite misty and you couldn't see the end of runway 03 from Crash Gate 3. Then a Lightning called up to taxy, destination Warton.
I knew that BAE's F6 was still at Binbrook, having been one of the stars of the show, at the 'Last Last Lightning Show' on the 29 April.
11 Squadon's black Metro then roared past with Ian Black on board, and I then thought something special was going to happen, and I wasn't wrong!
XP693 appeared out of the mist, with the starboard wing cranked over and passed just in view behind the building opposite, went into the vertical and was gone into the low cloud.
And all went quiet again.
Pilot was BAE test pilot Colin Rae, himself ex 11 Squadron pilot.
This and much more on DVD 1 hour 40 minutes from the LPG. https://www.lightnings.org.uk/shop/dv...
