María del Carmen Hilares married Luis Llamoja Flores, a well-respected and highly paid judge. María works as a secretary at the military prosecutor's office, helping her family live a comfortable life. Their relationship developed quickly and they decided to get married, later having three children: a daughter named Giuliana and two sons.

Giuliana was her father's favorite. She was spoiled and always sought to please him. For nearly 20 years, the family enjoyed a seemingly perfect life in San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, Peru. Her father, Luis, was very proud of his daughter's creativity and love of art. By age 13, she was writing poetry and winning competitions, continuing her success as she pursued a law degree at the University of the Sacred Heart, aspiring to become a judge like her father.

In contrast, Giuliana's younger brothers were closer to their mother, María, which created tension in the household, especially between her and her mother.
