Another regatta at Loring — five days of camaraderie, variable winds, and plenty of "iceboat grit" on the tarmac. Sponsored by the Chickawaukie Iceboat Club, this race series had us tacking up a long windward stretches and hanging on for dear life down the run. Sometimes we luffed, but we always laughed.
Our favorite breakfast cook and friend, Lori Plant, was very ill during this year’s regatta, and we were deeply saddened to lose her not long afterward. The jars of her homemade jam — gifts she shared so generously with the whole crew — are surely gone by now, but the sweetness of her spirit and her lasting impact on all of us will remain forever.
