Beach City Baby’s Pancake Breakfast Kickoff!

Saturday May 21st’s Pancake Breakfast Fly-In / Drive In was a huge success. Although the event was scheduled from 9am to 12pm, folks showed up early and left around 1pm. All told, close to 350 people showed up with close to 30 airplanes flying in throughout the event. Folks were excited to see the C-53, and story after story was told of where folks were when they saw her on her maiden flight last weekend and how they couldn’t wait to come up to see her! That is exactly what we loved hearing!

Vintage Wings Inc. members were in period attire and did their part teaching history to all that attended with great responses from our guest. The EAA members of Chapter 988 did an amazing job cooking the breakfast for everyone and helped with all of the food and supplies. We can’t thank EAA Chapter 988 enough for all that they did to make yesterday’s event a great one for everyone in attendance.

It was a great way to kick off our season right here at our hometown airport offering our community and its citizens the first glimpse of their airplane. We even were honored to have Don Wightman show up and sign his name next to his Plaque on the interior of the airplane next to his plaque commemorating his service to our country.

Over and over again, all we heard all day long was, “We are so glad it’s here,” and “It makes me proud to know we have a symbol of the greatest generation here, in this little town to call our own.” We couldn’t agree more!
