One of Fort Walla Walla Museum's most iconic artifacts is the Abbot-Downing passenger wagon--also known as a mud wagon for its use on rutted and muddy roads. Museum visitors are immediately greeted by the red and yellow stagecoach, but what is its story? Researcher and museum volunteer Ron Krause discusses the role of the stagecoach in the mid-nineteenth century and how this well-preserved coach found its way into the museum's collection.
