Once we get the wood into the rough shape of a Guqin, we start to digging out the belly.
The inside of the Guqin is hollow, allowing sound waves to vibrate and bounce around. Guqin makers (handcrafted) adjust the thickness of the walls according to wood type and density to ensure that the final sound is clear and not muffled.
