Cold winter morning birding at Marievale Bird Sanctuary - Searching for the Cape Teal

Hi all
At the beginning of July a Cape Teal was reported at Marievale and as the Cape Teal was on my target list of species to get to 600 and also close out the South African teal family I decided to head out and attempt to get it!
The temperature in the car read -4 degrees as I headed in to the reserve and was possibly colder still in the Hadeda hide which showed very little activity. The parts of the reserve that had water were very productive though and eventually I did manage to get the Cape Teal at the picnic spot hide.
Any morning with a new lifer is a good morning so I rather enjoyed it despite the cold!
