I was Tired of Rigging up Egg Loop Knots just to have Big Alaska Silver Salmon break em off so I Here's THIS New Method for Rigging up an Egg Loop to Hold Salmon Roe and Baits on your hook.
Fishing the Kasilof River in Alaska chasing hard-fighting coho (silver salmon), and these fish did not disappoint. Fishing Using salmon roe, a diver, and sometimes a Spin-N-Glo, I hooked into some of the hardest striking salmon I’ve ever fought. While Salmon Fishing, They hit so hard that I kept losing fish right at the boat — breaking me off again and again.
After losing two in a row, I tied on an experimental bait loop rig with heavier line… and it paid off big time! I finally started landing fish, including my biggest Kasilof River coho ever — one over 10 pounds and another nearly 12 pounds. Absolute beasts!
I also harvested roe from the big female, filleted the salmon riverside, and wrapped up an unforgettable day of Alaska fishing. This was one for the books.
📏 Gear & Tactics Used:
– Salmon Roe Bait

– Experimental bait loop rig (heavier line)
🐟 Catches:
– Multiple Coho (Silver Salmon) strikes and battles
– New PBs: 10+ lbs and nearly 12 lbs coho salmon on the Kasilof River.
