We pick up another section of the disused LD&ECR (Lancashire Derbyshire & East Coast Railway) Beighton Branch, starting our explore in the town of Clowne and the former Clowne South station.

The station opened in 1897 but regular timetabled passenger services ceased in 1939. The station officially closed in 1964. These days remains of the old station can still be seen on Station Road. The station building and booking office was built on top of the road bridge straddling the railway. These days the old premises are home to a beauty salon.

From here we pick up the route of the old line as it leaves Clowne in the form of a park titled ''Linear Park". This first section is a well trodden path, easy for walkers and cyclists until we meet the first missing bridge at Hollin Hill Lane.

The line itself between Clowne and Creswell opened in 1896 and was the first section of the Beighton Branch to close in 1967.

If we keep following the route of the old line away from Clowne, we come across the remains and the gaping chasm that once stood the six-arch Markland Grips viaduct. The viaduct was plagued with subsidence and plans were eventually raised to fill in the valley to turn the viaduct in to a banking. To keep the farm access, a newer tunnel was built underneath the existing vaiduct - which is the main concrete structure that we can see today.

The route of the line is blocked from here for a short distance due to fencing errected on private land, however we can pick up the lost railway again on the approach to Creswell.

The 'top' station in Creswell was known as ''Creswell and Welbeck" from 1897. Like Clowne, the station closed to passengers in 1939. We can see no remains of the station, the banking or the bridge that carried the railway of the road. However we can see the station masters house next to the location of the lost railway and station.

My channel was set up in 2020 mainly to feature my running adventures. I planned to film and showcase the days out and destinations my running travels took me. Mainly the Peak District and the sights and marvels of Sheffield and the surrounding regions.

However due to Covid restrictions, I found a new interest in researching and exploring old abandoned places - railway lines, canal, woodland, parks to name a few.
So the videos you'll find will be mainly be of those things. Of course, where possible I'll be running to my destination.
