Judd Apatow has been making people laugh for more than 30 years. He directed the 40-year-old Virgin, Knocked Up and Trainwreck; and produced the cult classics Super Bad, Bridesmaids, Anchor Man and the much beloved television series Freaks and Geeks.
On his fourth visit to Fresh Air, Apatow sits down with Co-host Tonya Mosley to talk about his new book Comedy Nerd, part scrapbook, part confessional, part love letter to the art of movie making. He gives us a glimpse into his lifelong obsession with comedy, with behind the scenes photographs and stories that span all the way to his childhood when he’d hunt down famous comedians for autographs and interviews.
Comedy Nerd is OUT NOW. Proceeds from the book will benefit both the youth writing charity 826, and Los Angeles wildfire relief organization Fire Aid.
