ਫੜ ਓੰਗਲ਼ੀ ਲੈ ਚੱਲੀ ਦਾਦੀ ਮਾ
Holding their fingers, their grandmother takes them,
ਜੋਰਾਵਰ ਤੇ ਫਤਿਹ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾ
Baba Joravar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh ji were their names,
ਵੇ ਵਾਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੰਮੇਰੀਆ

ਕਦਮਾ ਚ ਕਾਹਲੀ ਏ ਤੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਵੇ
It was a black and deaf night, there was a rush in footsteps,
ਤਿਲਕਣ ਪੈਰ ਓੁੱਤੌ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਵੇ
The feet were slippery, walking in the heavy rain,
ਅੱਗੇ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੀਵਾ ਜੱਗਦਾ
Ahead, a lamp is glowing from the hut,
ਕੁੰਮੇ ਮਾਸ਼ਕੀ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਲੱਗਦਾ
It looks like the home of Kumme Maashki (a boatman who provided shelter to Mata Gujri and chote sahibzaade),
ਵੇ ਵਾਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੰਮੇਰੀਆ

ਤੱਤੀ ਤਵੀ ਆਰੇ ਦੇਗਾਂ ਪਾਓੁਦੀਏ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ
Mata Gujri tells the Sahibzaade about the martyrdom of their grandfather and great-grandfather,
ਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਝੁਕੇ ਨਹੀਓ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਓੁਹਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਆ
He gave his head and agreed to give his life, did not bow before them,
ਚੜੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਕਿਆ
The sun rose, ending the darkness,
ਗੰਗੂ ਬਣਕੇ ਵਿਚੋਲਾ ਢੁੱਕਿਆ
Gangu became the vichola (matchmaker between the sahibzaade and their martyrdom),
ਵੇ ਵਾਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੰਮੇਰੀਆ

ਲੁਟ ਲਈਏ ਧੰਨ ਪਾਦੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਮਾ
(Gangu says) let’s steal their wealth and put poison in their food, mother,
ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਲਾਲ ਪੁੱਤ ਕਰੀ ਐਸਾ ਕਹਿਰ ਨਾ
(Gangu’s mother says) see how beautiful the sons are, don’t do this evil act,
ਥੈਲਾ ਮੋਹਰਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ
Gangu picked up the bag of money in the dark,
ਓੁਹ ਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਮੋਰਿੰਡੇ ਰੁੱਕਿਆ
And he went to the "Morinda" police station to report the chote sahibzade,

The soldiers are the baraat (wedding procession) standing at the door to take the Sahibzaade to their wedding (martyrdom),
ਦੱਸੋ ਐਵੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੇ, ਕੋਣ ਘੋੜੀ ਚੜੇ ਆ
Tell me, who else in the world would have gotten married like this,
ਜੁਝਾਰ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਜੀ ਗਾਵੇ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ
