In this video, we’ll show you how to make a delicious fusion dish: Chinese Shahlik! This dish combines the flavors of traditional Chinese stir-fry with the grilling technique of skewered meat. Perfect for a barbecue or a quick weeknight meal!
Ingredients
For the Marinade:
1 lb chicken or beef, cut into cubes
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
1 tsp five-spice powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1-2 tbsp chopped green onions
For the Skewers:
Bell peppers, cut into chunks
Red onions, cut into wedges
Zucchini, sliced
Bamboo or metal skewers
Instructions
1. Marinate the chicken :
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, ginger, five-spice powder, black pepper, and green onions.
Add the meat cubes and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for better flavor).
2. Prepare the Skewers:
If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
Thread the marinated meat and vegetables onto the skewers, alternating between meat and veggies.
3. Grill the Shahlik:
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and has a nice char.
4. Serve:
Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. Drizzle with extra soy sauce or chili sauce for an added kick!
