The Beatles’ I Am the Walrus is one of John Lennon’s strangest and most creative songs.
Written in 1967 at his home in Weigh Bridge, Lennon set out to confuse anyone trying to “analyze” Beatles lyrics.
He mixed nonsense poetry, lines from nursery rhymes, and inspiration from The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll.
Producer George Martin helped blend rock, orchestra, and choir into a wall of sound.
And if you listen closely, the fading radio voices at the end are from a real BBC broadcast of King Lear.
This video tells the full songwriting story — how a moment of frustration turned into one of The Beatles’ most iconic experiments in sound.
