Winter has well and truly arrived and the temperatures are sub zero as I pick up my stick float rod, brave the elements and go trotting maggots for winter grayling at LDASA Linton, a picturesque stretch on River Wharfe.
With absolutely no prior experience of this venue other than that the grayling fishing can be prolific at this time of year, I again decide to go with a one road stick float rod setup to allow me to rove use some watercraft and search out some likely fish holding spots.
Roving and trotting for grayling has to be one of the nicest ways to spend a day on the bank and when the weather is cold, a good hike gets the blood flowing.
