Lumberjack Day is Camp Samac’s first Offer of Service of the year — a volunteer event where Scouts, leaders, and community members come together to care for the land and protect the forest.
Following the growing impact of invasive species like buckthorn and dog-strangling vine, this day focuses on hands-on forest management. Volunteers work to remove invasive plants, manage dead and downed wood, prepare firewood, and support the long-term health of Camp Samac’s 163 acres.
From Beavers to Rovers, Scouters, and community volunteers, Lumberjack Day offers meaningful work for all ages and abilities. It’s also a great opportunity for students looking to earn volunteer hours while making a real difference.
You may notice that many of the youth participating are not shown clearly on camera. Scouts Canada prioritizes youth safety and privacy, and identifiable photos or videos of youth are only shared when proper consent is in place. Safety First, always.
Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time and energy to help restore Camp Samac. This video is part of our ongoing Restoring Camp Samac series — follow along as we continue caring for the land and improving the camp for future generations.
