Rongo is a small village in the district of Kalimpong. It is an offbeat place on the bank of river Jhoulong. We visited there on 10th January 2026 and stayed at Rongo River Valley homestay. Out stay was excellent and we enjoyed Rongo a lot. At first we reached New Mal Junction by Kanchankanya express and then moved to Rongo by car. The distance between New Mal and Rongo is 46 km and it takes 1.5 hours by car to reach there. One can take share car from Mal bazar to reach Rongo as well.
