〇 Okay, let's talk about how many people are in your family.
I'll start.
Mine's just me and my little sister.
We share a bunk bed and argue over who gets the top.
　“share a bunk bed”＝「二段ベッドを共有する」。
　“argue over 〜”＝「〜のことで口論する」。
How many folks live with you?

● I have three family members in my family.
⇒ There are four of us in my family
A wife and two adorable daughters

冠詞 "a" を使うと「ある妻」という不自然な響き

〇 Oh, that sounds perfect.
My two girls would turn the house into a blanket fort every single weekend.
　“blanket fort”＝毛布などで作る「秘密基地／テント」
No space left for us grown-ups.
　“grown-ups”＝「大人たち」。
Do your daughters have matching pajamas or do they pick totally different colors?
　“matching pajamas”＝「おそろいのパジャマ」。

● What do you mean by that?
　⇒ What do you mean by “matching pajamas”?
　相手が「matching pajamas」という新しい単語を出しているので、
　具体的に引用して聞き返す方が自然

〇 Oh, I just meant some kids love twinning outfits, like both wearing pink sparkly onesies.
　“twinning outfits”＝「おそろいの服装」。
　“sparkly”＝「キラキラ光る」。
　“onesie”＝上下がつながった部屋着やパジャマ。
Mine, one insists on dinosaurs, the other demands unicorns.
　主語の “Mine” は “my kids” の省略。
　“insist on”＝「〜を強く主張する」。
　“demands”＝「〜を要求する」。
　対比で子どもの好みの違いを表現。
Ends up looking like a zoo exploded in our living room.
So, matching PJs are total chaos at your place.
　“PJs”＝pajamas の略。

● Yes, my elder daughter likes to wear pajamas in any time.
⇒ Yeah, my older daughter likes to wear pajamas all the time.
　“elder” はフォーマルまたは書き言葉的で、カジュアル会話では“older”が定番。
　“anytime” は「いつでも」という意味ですが、
　ここでは「ずっと／四六時中」の意味なので “all the time” が最適です。

〇 Oh man, I love that.
Elder daughter makes her sound so responsible yet she's basically living in pajamas full time.
　「長女」という言い方はすごくしっかりして聞こえるけど、
　実際はいつもパジャマで生活してるんですね。
My youngest tried that once.
　うちの末っ子も一度それをやってみました。
Went to school in dinosaur footsies.

　“let it slide”＝「大目に見る」「見逃す」慣用句。

〇 First off, you're doing awesome.
　“First off” は「まず第一に」。会話でよく使う口語表現（formalには First of all）

Just two tiny tweaks.
When you're pausing to think, like before, in any time, try filling it with a filler word we actually say out loud.
　“like before”＝「さっきみたいに」。
　“say out loud”＝「声に出して言う」。
"um" "like" or "you know" makes it feel even smoother
and "in anytime" close, swap to "anytime" or "all the time" depending what you meant.
　“swap to”＝「〜に置き換える／入れ替える」。
But honestly I understood perfectly and that's what counts.
　“that’s what counts”＝「それが重要なんです」。

⇒「授業してくれてありがとう」という意味で、ここでは少し不自然。
→ “Thank you for the feedback.” や “Thank you for teaching me.” の方が自然。
But always Annie and Valentine told me that stop saying uh and just pause.

What do you think about that?

〇 Well, Annie and Valentine aren't wrong.
Pausing confidently is super polished.
　"polished”＝「洗練された、上品な」。
But here's the secret.
　会話で “here’s the secret” は、「実はこうなんです」という前置きフレーズ。
Real people say uh all the time.
It's like mental breathing.
If you pause too long without a sound, listeners think you're lost.
A quick uh keeps the rhythm alive.
Like this.
My elder daughter likes to wear pajamas, um, every single time.
　「私の長女はパジャマを着るのが好きで、えーっと、いつもそうなんです」みたいにね。
　“every single time”＝「毎回欠かさず」
See? Not bad at all.
　ね？全然悪くないでしょ。
So maybe try pause when you're calm and prepared, uh, when you're thinking on your feet.
Want to practice one more line?

● So when you are buffering your brain, you say "um" right?
　⇒ So when your brain’s buffering, you say “um,” right?
　“buffering your brain” は文法的にも正しいですが、少し機械翻訳っぽく聞こえるので、
　“when your brain’s buffering” の方が自然で会話っぽいです。

〇 Yep. Um is your friendly brain loader sound.
Like when the Wi-Fi spins.
Go ahead, try saying, "I want to eat ice cream um after dinner."
Doesn't it feel way more natural than just freezing there?
