Cruising the coast of British Columbia 2024 aboard “Natasha”. This is Part 2 of 7, sailing in Barkley Sound for a week with buddy Ben Andersen. Barkley Sound is an indent on the west side of Vancouver Island about 15 miles wide by 10 miles deep, creating both wild west coast waves as well as protected waters the further in you sail. The weather, ever changeable, is a discovery every day. In settled weather the westerly wind starts around 1000hrs and evaporates at sunset. In unsettled weather the winds can come from any direction along with the rain.
