From the previous video, we have learned about fertile and sterile varieties of dragon fruit. This video will show if a variety of dragon fruit is autogamous or self pollinating. As you can see from the video, the anthers which contains the pollens are touching the stigma does ensuring pollination will occur even without the help of bats, moths or bees (pollinators). The height of the pistil is the same as the height of the stamen making the stigma touch the anther. Once the flower starts to close and wither, the more the anthers and the stigma come in physical contact. This ensures pollination will occur. Other varieties of dragon fruit have the pistil length about a centimeter to two centimeters longer than the stamen, these are not self-pollinating. Autogamous varieties usually produces smaller size fruit. You can still pollinate using pollens from another variety to increase the chance of getting bigger size fruit. Thank you for watching. Cheers.
