In this demo, we walk through how Scalekit acts as the authentication layer for an MCP gateway server.
The video demonstrates:
Inbound authentication: Users authenticate from an MCP client into an MCP gateway server using OAuth 2.1 and an enterprise IDP (Okta), with ScaleKit managing the access tokens.
Outbound authentication: The MCP gateway server checks Scalekit to confirm that the user has already connected external tools (Slack and GitHub) before allowing actions to be performed on their behalf.
Using a sample application called CoffeeDesk, the demo shows an end-to-end flow where an MCP client accesses the MCP gateway, retrieves data, and performs actions in Slack and GitHub after the required connections are verified.
