CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 and erbium Laser resurfacing using both fractional and fully ablative lasers can be used to treat skin in all skin types. Unlike fractional lasers or micro needling, fully ablative CO2 and Erbium lasers treat the entire skin. This has many advantages, including a full coverage of the skin’s surface. In most cases only one treatment needs to be performed, as compared with Fractional devices such as Fraxel, Pixel, Portrait, Smart Dot, CO2 CORE, Fractora, eMatrix RF or even micro- needling.

The laser resurfacing procedure took just over 30 minutes to perform, healing times range from 8-10 days depending on the depth. I do expect and want redness for 4-6 weeks after laser. Redness feeds the collagen, in turn tightening the skin, improving skin tone and decreases wrinkles. Fully ablative co2 lasers are my go to lasers for extreme make-overs and sun damage, as well as severe but shallow acne scars. Laser resurfacing is a loss art, as most patients elect fractional devices such as microneedlign, Fraxel and other lasers- the bottom line if you want a huge improvement with only one treatment, laser resurfacing is often the only answer. This is especially so if patients have had a significant amount of sun exposure- most of my patients are from Gold Coast, Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.

Remember, laser resurfacing is only one procedure I use to rejuvenate skin- it is choosing the correct procedure and METHOD that delivers the very best results. It is the balance between skin texture, tone and volume that gives the very best outcomes. I often combine fillers such as Juvederm, and Restylane 1-2 months after the laser resurfacing procedure to balance and restore volume. The balance of all three will give the best outcome in regards to beauty, health skin and most of all a natural refreshed look!
