1973 De Tomaso Pantera Gr.3 Race Car

This beast of a car going around the Belgian track Spa-Francorchamps sure is a nice sight for sore eyes! If the beauty of this De Tomaso Pantera Group 3 Race Car can't convince you then the sound sure will!

Filmed at the Spa Classic 2015 this car is an Italian man's creation who would eventually play a big role in the racing world. The De Tomaso's performance was off the charts back when it was released and blew renown car brands away on certain occasions. The car was a perfect match between Italian craftsmanship and an American V8 in the back.

Ford was basically looking to build a good GT car back in the 70s and since it already delivered engines to De Tomaso for the Mangusta the collaboration between the two brands could only get better in the future. Hence the extremely fast Pantera was born to conquer the American world of racing. Later on De Tomaso would shift its focus to the European market and started racing in European Racing Series where it made Ferrari's life a lot tougher. After the Gr.3 car they would build a GT/4 and GTS model as well with more powerful engines and minor changes to the bodywork that created better ground effects.

The Pantera would be built from 1970 to 1991 and in total 7260 units would have been built by the end of its production. In this video, you can see two of the earlier models still going hard and being loud!
