Dr. Rachel Spaeth shows, step-by-step, the complete process of chip and cleft grafting at the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) in Davis, California. In this example, she grafts scions of almond (Prunus dulcis and Prunus bucharica) from Utah onto 'NemaRed' peach (Prunus persica) rootstock. These methods are appropriate for grafting Prunus (almond, peach, cherry, apricot, plum, nectarines), as well as apple, pear, avocado, and cherimoya.
