A family farm near Chester, South Carolina, Cotton Hill Farms has operated continuously since 1882. Cotton, small grains, and corn were some of the farm's original staple crops. While cotton is still important to them, they now grow a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Cotton Hill Farms opened their farm retail stand, The Market, in 2002 as a way to make homegrown produce accessible to the community. In 2007, Cotton Hills Farm was placed in a conservation easement, which plays an important role in keeping it a farm forever. Their most recent addition to the farm is a retail stand in downtown Chester.
We spoke with Jeff, Pete and J.E.B. Wilson, owners of the farm about what they do, how they've kept their farm in the family and why they continue to love to farm.
