Our Trip to France Part 2 | Tain-l'Hermitage and Beaulieu-sur-Mer
The second half of our visit to France starts in Tain l’Hermitage, where we stopped at a chocolatier called Valrhona before our visit to the winery.
After Cave de Tain winery, we had some time so we went for a drive to explore the countryside and found our way up a mountain vineyard with some of the most stunning views we’ve ever seen
After our dinner, we walked around exploring the cobblestone streets. Tain L’Hermitage definitely makes our list of favourite towns.
After a couple hours of driving, we stopped at a town called Die to get some lunch. The really interesting thing about this town was that there didn’t appear to be many streets for cars. Most of the homes seemed to open into walking paths, which was so cool to see and obviously a very old style of urban planning.
To be perfectly honest we didn’t really know what to expect on our drive through the countryside, but to our surprise, we ended up driving through the heart of the French Alps which was the drive of a lifetime.
Our drive from Lyon to Nice was about 8 hours and totally worth it. If you are visiting France and leaving the Mediterranean to travel inland, we highly recommend driving instead of taking a train or bus.
After a brief visit to one of the Rothschild Mansions, we put our nice clothes on and took an Uber to Eze, which is a medieval town built on top of a mountain. We explored a perfumery, the old ruins on top of the mountain, and finally ate at the two Michelin Star restaurant, Chevre D’Or
We made our last day in France a beach day. Beaulieu-sur-Mer has two beaches. We hadn’t been to the eastern beach yet, but after quickly trying it out, we realized that the one on the west side was much better, so we just ended up back at the same beach club that we had dinner at two days ago.
