The Blood Transfusion Education and Discussion Group is a virtual group aimed at those working in Transfusion, brought to you by the Patient Blood Management Team at NHS Blood and Transplant.
We meet on the last Wednesday of every month and an expert speaker is invited to deliver a talk on a specific area of transfusion.
This session is delivered by Nicole Thornton, MSc, Patient Blood Management Practitioner at NHS Blood and Transplant. In this session, Nicole talks about the remarkable journey behind the discovery of the MAL blood group system—a breakthrough that resolves a 50-year mystery surrounding the AnWj antigen and revolutionises transfusion medicine and care for rare patients.
