McDavid Offensive Zone Entry | NHL Player Hightlight Analysis

Let's analyze McDavid's goal from October 16th, 2018 vs. Winnipeg. How many times have we seen him blow through the neutral zone like this? He makes NHL defensemen look like pylons with as much speed as he has. Check out the number of forward half crossovers he executes to get from one of the ice to other. Most turnovers happen at the blue lines, many players mistakenly slow down before they reach the opposition's blue line, but not him. He gains as much speed as he can through the neutral zone catching the defenseman off guard. He receives the pass in-stride so he doesn't break his stride and slow down. Immediately gets his head up to analyze where he can score past the goalie, because he had his head up he became aware of the goalies poke check. From there he claimed territory by pushing to the front of the net aggressively and swiftly switching to the backhand side for a backhand flick shot top shelf! Intermediate to Elite | All Ages.
