The Cherokee Woman Who Killed Five Slave Catchers With a Tomahawk to Save Her Slave Husband, 1839

Описание:

In the dense pine forests near the Chattahoochee River, love bloomed where the law forbade it. Aiyana, a young Cherokee woman driven from her ancestral lands, found refuge among those who had no refuge — the enslaved of the South. There she met Josiah, a runaway blacksmith with eyes that carried both fire and fear. Together they built a secret life in the wilderness, far from the eyes of masters and soldiers.
But freedom never went unnoticed. One autumn dawn, five slave catchers — men hardened by coin and cruelty — tracked the scent of Josiah’s trail to their hidden cabin.
