Appalachia is one of the creepiest and poorest regions of America. But while many know the struggles and poverty of West Virginia and Kentucky, Pennsylvania was at the heart of the Coal Region, and thus, has many once booming mining towns, which are now nearly completely abandoned Ghost Towns. Today I explored a few, including Centralia, a town that has been on fire for decades and literally disappeared overnight, and chatted with many locals to find out why Americans live in these haunted forgotten decaying & hopeless cities and towns, such as Mt Carmel, Ashland, Aristes, Wilburton No. 2 & Concrete City.
What is life really like in Columbia County, Northumberland County & Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania? And who chooses to live in these remote, poor, rural communities? Join me on this epic road trip to find out!
