Today we'll see how best to use Chinola Passion Fruit Liqueur as a substitute for passion fruit syrup in 2 classic Tiki cocktails. Chinola comes in 21% ABV and is not as sweet as a typical passion fruit syrup, but with a few slight adjustments, you can easily use it in place of passion fruit syrup. The easiest way to calculate this is by figuring out the total ABV of your cocktails and making adjustments from there.

I tested out a Hurricane and Saturn made using Chinola vs the historic recipes and found the taste indistinguishable. I tested with 2 other people, and while we could all see slight differences there was no consensus. I had assumed there would be more of a difference, but if you cant match the ABV of recipes that call for passion fruit syrup you can make something that is incredibly close to the original.

1 ¾ oz gin (52.5 ml)
1 oz Chinola (30 ml)

Chinola Hurricane
½ oz lemon juice (15 ml)
½ oz lime juice (15 ml)
½ oz 2:1 rich simple (15 ml)
½ oz light/moderately aged Spanish style rum (15 ml)
1 oz Worthy Park 109 or other overproof dark Jamaican rum (30 ml)
1 oz Chinola (30 ml)
