Southport Promenade & Marine Lake - 4K walk - Slow Scenes UK

No trip to Southport is complete without a visit to the beach! We start at Silcocks, an old-fashioned amusement arcade which has been present in Southport since the late 19th century. Then we take a stroll past Marine Lake and Kings Gardens. Marine Lake is a manmade lake that was constructed in 1887 alongside the gardens. During the summer you can find people riding on the pink swan pedalos or taking a motorboat down the lake! We then pass the Ocean Plaza shopping centre to the beach itself. We can also see the pier which is the second longest pier in the country and opened in 1860. Sadly the pier has been closed since 2022 after inspections found the wood used during the pier's most recent refurbishment was unsafe for the public.
