FIRST events are free and open to the public. Best time for viewing matches is after lunch.
If you can’t attend in person the event will be broadcast on the FIRST BC YouTube channel.
The first of two Vancouver Island FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournaments will be held at Equimalt Secondary School in Victoria on Saturday December 13 2025. FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournaments include judging sessions, robot inspections, qualification matches, playoff matches, and awards.
Schedule
8:00am Team Registration Opens
8:30am – 10:45am Judging Interviews, Inspections
11:00am Opening
11:15am – 12:00pm Qualifying Matches
12:00pm Lunch
1:00pm – 4:00pm Qualifying Matches
4:00 pm Alliance Selection
4:30 pm Playoff Matches
5:45 pm Awards and Closing
Teams will have a judging interview in the morning and robot inspection. Around 11am is opening ceremonies followed by the first qualification matches. Lunch is usually 12 noon to 1pm, followed by more qualification matches. Once all the qualification matches are played, the top teams choose their partners for the playoff matches. Closing ceremony and awards follow the final matches.
