From the filming archives - a collection of special workings / charters around the ECML York area between July and October; in reverse date order:
4th Oct.: The Railway Touring Company ‘The Railway 200 Special’ with 86259/E3137 ‘Les Ross/Peter Pan’ – 1Z22 06:20 Kings Cross to Stanhope. Super glad we made the effort and filmed the class 86 at speed.
2nd Oct.: Saphos Trains ‘The White Rose’ with LSG two-tone green liveried D1935 (47805) ‘Roger Hosking MA 1925-2013’ and LNER Peppercorn class A2 pacific 60532 ‘Blue Peter’ on the back - 1Z33 16:16 York to Northampton. Blue Peter not turned at York Yard North, only stabled, so reversed at Gascoigne Wood Down Loop.
7th Aug.: SLC Rail (Rail Adventure) class 43 HST back-back power cars 43423 & 43467 hauling three Tyne & Wear Metro, Stadler built, 5-car class 555 BEMUs 555039, 555032 & 555019 (as well as a few barrier / translator vehicles) - 6Q25 02:00 Wembley Receptions 1-7 to York Yard North.
Departed Wembley 51 late, gained right time by not stopping at Peterborough. Consist stabled at York Holgate Siding (GBRf) for the day; to form the evenings 6Q26 22:00 working to Pelaw Junction and access into the Tyne & Wear Metro system.
3rd Aug.: Railway Touring Company ‘The Waverley’ with 37668 and 47826 - 1Z42 09:32 York to Carlisle (p.09:40 4L) and
DB Cargo 66101 & LNER A3 60103 'Flying Scotsman' positioning move - 5Z62 17:14 Derby Litchurch Lane to Shildon (p.19:00 10L); following the Greatest Gathering that weekend.
31st July: West Coast Railways operated ‘Scarborough Spa Express’ with 37706 and 47826 - 1Z16 16:15 Scarborough to Carnforth (p.17:25 2L).
23rd July: LSL ‘Steam Dreams’ charter with 57311 'Institution of Mechanical Engineers' - 1Z71 16:47 York to Kings Cross (p.16:56 3L).
Passed by: Northern 3-car CAF DMU 195128 on 1B32 14:18 Blackpool North to York (4L) and overtaken (so very nearly bowled) by TPE 3-car Desiro DHMU 185119 on 1P30 15:54 Scarborough to Manchester Victoria (2L).
Unfortunately 70000 ‘Britannia’ was taken off the northbound leg of the charter at Peterborough with a technical issue - charter arrived at York with the 57 heading the train and 63 minutes late (it was 107mins late at Retford but didn’t wait 32mins in Babworth Loops).
12 July: Railway Touring Company ‘The White Rose’ with LNER A1 60163 ‘Tornado’ ‘TnT’ with 47812 - 1Z58 07:38 Kings Cross to York (p.13:04 1L); followed by 0Z58 West Coast Railways class 47 support loco 47832 (p. 13:07); and a tone at the end!
All filmed on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) at various locations south of York with an Insta360 in 4K and an Android phone. Thank you for watching my collection of videos throughout 2025.
