Pt 2 - Bubble Frog. Spinning the body. Best flies for bass. alex@flyfishfork.com.
This fly takes me a while to tie so I decided to break up the video 1) stacking, spinning, and packing the deer hair and 2) trimming the body.
Tips for Trimming Deer Hair Flies:
1. Take your time; do not rush.
2. Trim a little at a time.
3. Do not over-trim (my biggest challenge) - close enough is good enough most times.
These tips are essential for achieving a professional look when trimming deer hair flies. Patience and a steady hand are key to success. Remember, it's better to go back and make small adjustments than to over-trim and ruin the fly's appearance.
I love fishing topwater with this pattern, it seems that fish will attack this fly when nothing else works.
Materials: 1/0 or larger hook.
Deer belly hair
silly legs
Dress this fly on the top of the face with dry. It tracks better when the bottom is allowed to absorb some moisture.
Fish this pattern with long strips that allow the fly to create bubbles and then pause it for a few seconds. Let the silly legs do the work, they will attract fish with their movement.
