Port Isaac - come for a wander! Virtual step-by-step Walking tour Port Isaac Cornwall or 'Port Wenn'

We were lucky enough to take a trip to Port Isaac when lockdown 'travel for exercise' restrictions were easing but before holiday accommodation had opened. Being in Port Isaac felt a bit different. Usually it is a busy bustling place with people crowding the streets and shops, eager to spot the cottages and places used in Doc Martin. Chatter, laughter and childish squeals usually fill the air.

On the day we visited, it was so quiet. The stage was still being set, painters with the finishing touches, housekeepers cleaning windows and the few locals that continue to live in the village enjoying a quiet drink on the Platt, with children paddling in the water.

Beginning on the South West Coast Path (SWCP), just west of Port Isaac, we walk to the village to explore the quiet streets, quaint lanes and cute cottages, tucked cheek by jowl in the heart of the village. After winding through the cottages, we walk up Fore Street, passing the Old School House and pick up the SWCP once again that leads to the St Endellion car park, before taking a little footpath, Doctor's Meadow to finish back in the centre of the village with a most photographed view of the harbour.

A challenge for the Doc Martin fans - see how many filming locations you can spot!! Here are four obvious ones: Doc Martin's surgery at 7:41, Aunt Ruth's house at 15:33, Crab and Lobster at 21:28 and Louisa's school at 32:14. We spotted plenty!!

Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.
