Stylophone CPM DS-2 analog drone synthesizer

Some sounds from my first days with the Stylophone CPM DS-2.

0:00 - Sequence 1
1:04 - Sequence 2
2:20 - Sequence 3
3:38 - Slow LFO drone

5:45 - Notes over drone - Osc 1 drones on and Osc 2 is played by keyboard

This synth is labeled as a drone synthesizer and while it’s really good at that I was also curious to try to make some melodic things using the LFO as a note sequencer using the pattern waveforms. The LFO is of course unquantized so the pitch of the notes will be out of scale or microtonal in their relation to each other. Great for eerie sounds that have an otherworldly character to them.

The only effects I used in these recordings is the built-in delay and reverb. The audio was recorded straight into an audio interface and there is no post- processing.

I plan on doing some more videos with this connecting it to other gear etc. so stick around for that!
