Pamela Lyndon Travers the author of Mary Poppins was born Helen Lyndon Goff on 9 August 1899 and died on 23 April 1996 was an Australian-British writer who spent most of her career in England She is best known for the Mary Poppins series of books which feature the eponymous magical nanny. The Mary Poppins film is a 1964 American musical fantasy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney, with songs written and composed by the Sherman Brothers.
