This film features the 78 Dodge Diplomat. Approximately 50,000 cars were manufactured in it's second full year. The 78 model year saw the introduction of the Wagon Version. This car was heavily based on the Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare platform. Note the similarities of the wagon model to the Aspen. Diplomats were only offered as passenger cars. By the 1982 Model year, Diplomats would be heavily promoted as Police Cars and Taxi cabs. The Diplomat was in production from 1977 thru 1989 with only minimal changes to the car which occurred in the 1980 model year. It ran from 80 thru 90 almost unchanged.
