My Focus RS gets a handling upgrade!

The new part(s) from Whiteline of Australia, are the rear anti-roll bar and matching links!

Having installed pretty much the entire range of Summit / Swave strengthening braces as well as the Whiteline rear adjustable toe arms, the next logical step in the pursuit of ultimate handling performance is the sway bars / anti-roll bars!

In this video, I install the rear sway along with the adjustable end links (you can get them separate or as part of a pack!)

An upgrade over stock in multiple ways, these Whiteline mods look super awesome as well as being more chunky than stock!

The stock anti-roll bar is 20mm vs. the Whiteline sway bar which is 22mm. This is important as the anti-roll bar works using a twisting / torsional force to activate the suspension of the opposite side to that being loaded and so by spreading the load/forces, it helps keep the car flat in hard cornering. Having a thicker sway bar means that these twisting forces are less likely deform the bar which would result in unwanted reduction in effectiveness.

The stock end links are quite thin and also are a fixed length. The Whiteline end links are adjustable up to 25mm, which can be done even after installation such as a quick set up change at the track, and are more chunky over stock.

The anti-roll bar is also adjustable, with 2 points to choose from to connect it to the the end links - one position that is the same as stock and one that is closer to the links which will provide earlier and further activation of the sway bar, thus having more of an effect under hard cornering - I go straight to this option as you will see!

Further perks the Whiteline kit provides over stock is the bushings, brackets and lateral locks. The stock Ford bushings, like all stock bushings on the Focus RS are simple rubber bushings. This is both overly compliant (squishes easily, even with just the force of the hand) and also rubber degrades fairly quickly over time and would need replacing eventually anyway.

The Whiteline kit comes with Whiteline's proprietary market leading synthetic elastomer low compliance bushings. This gives an improvement in less unwanted flex without adding excessive NVH as well as being much more durable than the stock rubber bushings.

The Whiteline kit then also comes with new bushing brackets which are thicker and neater than stock, again providing a strength upgrade.

The lateral locks are a brilliant addition to the kit. Made from gold anodised aluminium, they lock onto the sway bar on the inner side of each bushing and stop unwanted side to side movement of the sway bar, retaining the proper central setup!
