What was supposed to be a simple weekend job turned into months of frustration.
This is the story of sealing the gas tank on my 1972 Honda SL125.
I set out to clean and seal the gas tank on my 1972 Honda SL125, thinking it would be a straightforward project. As soon as I started cleaning, I discovered the tank had already been sealed once before — and it was failing.
That meant stripping the old sealer out completely using paint stripper, starting over from bare metal, and fighting every step of the process along the way. What should’ve taken a couple of days slowly turned into a months-long saga of rust, chemicals, retries, and lessons learned the hard way.
This video isn’t a perfect how-to — it’s an honest look at an unplanned, frustrating, very real vintage motorcycle repair.
