A Day In Hue Vietnam: City Tour of Places to See & Eat | Imperial City Central Vietnam Travel Guide

In this vlog, we explore the city of Hue (Huế ) in Central Vietnam. This city guide/tour will help plan your day in the ancient town. Considered the historic heart of Vietnam, the city was the capital of Đàng Trong Kingdom from 1738 to 1775 and of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Rich in history, it is home to 7 imperial tombs as well as the ancient imperial city.

Our first stop is at the Khai Dinh Tomb. One of the more popular tombs in the area is the last of the imperial tombs in Vietnam. The tomb took 11 years to build and was completed in 1931. There are a lot of stairs, so it's best to go early in the morning when you're still rested, and the Vietnamese sun is not too intense.

After, we head to Minh Mang Tomb. This tomb was our favorite tomb of the day, and it was incredibly picturesque and serene. Besides the beautiful architecture, the grounds include landscaped lakes, canals, and gardens.

From the Minh Mang Tomb, we take a short walk to the Perfume River. No visit to Hue is truly complete without a boat trip on the Perfume River. We had drinks and refreshed while enjoying the ride that lasted about one hour. We arrived at the Thien Mu Pagoda. The seven-story pagoda is the tallest religious building in Vietnam. The temple was established in 1601, and the tower was constructed in 1844.

To break up the day, we eat lunch at Les Jardins De La Crambole. Located within the citadel, the restaurant serves up French Vietnamese food. We enjoyed the Banh Xeo (crispy Vietnamese Pancake), Banh Nam (Rectangular Dumpling), and beef fried noodles. Lastly, we visit the Imperial City. This walled fortress and palace were once the home of Vietnam's emperors. Also called "The Citadel," the palace grounds are surrounded by an impressive moat filled with waterlilies.
