After last week’s comparison I had to do a comparison to a cymbal y’all hear all the time in this page.

Additionally, I know these are two very different cymbals with very unique builds and features that I find very fascinating and I hope you do as well.

For starters, let’s get to know these two ride cymbals.

Zildjian’s K Custom Special Dry Ride(1429 grams) is designed to look raw and earthy while delivering a dry, funky sound with a quick attack, lots of dirt, yet shuts down quickly for a powerful responsive and detailed sound.

The K Constantinople Bounce Ride(1114 grams) is the result of a collaboration with jazz artist Kenny Washington, and recreates the specs of an old, classic K gifted to him in the 1970's by late jazz great Mel Lewis. These Extra 'cluster' hammering gives the cymbal a lower drone pitch with plenty of wash and sustain best resembling that of Kenny's old K.

The K Special Dry is full, very articulate, dark and trashy. You definitely have to lay into this ride more for it to open up. The K Constantinople on the other hand opens up quickly and gives such a fullness of worth and articulation and has quite a long sustain that in some situations could be too much.

Over all, there are plenty of situations you can use these two cymbals for. You just need to know them enough to find out which situation they will work best in.
