Part 21 of our "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" playthrough, aptly titled "It Was Me, DIO!," showcases an episode filled with frustration, anger, and disbelief at the game's design in one of its most challenging sections yet. This was not a test of skill but a battle against the game's mechanics themselves, leading to an experience that left me questioning the enjoyment and purpose of continuing the stream tonight.

The episode starts with a deceptive calm as we navigate through the area, only to be thrust into chaos by the return of Don Corneo and a familiar sewer beast boss fight. Initially manageable, the situation quickly deteriorates with the arrival of the Turks, leading to a battle marred by bugs and design choices that force a restart not once but multiple times.

The pinnacle of frustration arrives with Rufus and his seemingly untouchable stance. Armed with a new gun and mechanics that offer a minuscule window for attack, this fight feels less like a challenge and more like a punishment. The requirement to restart from the Turks' fight upon failure adds insult to injury, turning what should be an epic showdown into a grueling slog.

Setting the game to easy in hopes of bypassing this poorly designed section did little to alleviate the frustration, as every third move by Rufus is unblockable, and the stagger mechanic prevents any form of counterattack. The culmination of these issues, compounded by internet troubles, brought me to the brink, making this the absolute worst gaming experience I've encountered in recent memory.

This episode is a raw, unfiltered look at the lows that can come with high-stakes gaming. "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" has been a journey of incredible highs and now, unforgettable lows. As we move forward, one can only hope for a return to the elements that make gaming a joy rather than a chore.
